A quick overview of what the product is, who it is for, and how the current web and mobile release is being rolled out.
What is The Lyst?
The Lyst is a social recommendation mobile app designed for individuals or couples to track, curate, and share life experiences like movies, restaurants, and travel destinations.
How do I add a recommendation someone sends me via text?
The app is designed to work with your existing habits. When you receive a recommendation via text, you can instantly add it into the app, removing it from your text thread and placing it into your digital repository: The Lyst.
Does the app allow for manual data entries?
No. In order to ensure data integrity, the app pulls information such as titles, release years, addresses, and related details from verified databases rather than relying on manual user entry.
What categories of recommendations does the app support?
The app currently supports 12 categories: Show/Series, Movies, Books, Audiobooks, Albums, Podcasts, Video Games, Restaurants, Bars, Attractions/Venues, Stays, and Destinations.
How can I suggest other categories?
Send suggestions to team@thelystway.com for consideration and we will do our best to respond.
How does the app help me identify who gives the best advice?
The app features analytics that record who made each recommendation. Over time, it identifies which friends provide the most successful suggestions based on your ratings.
What is Co-owner mode?
Co-owner mode is a specialized mode for couples where both partners can view and contribute to a shared list using their own unique logins.
Can I keep some plans secret from my partner in shared mode?
Yes. Secret Mode allows one partner to add items or plans privately to surprise the other.
How does the app handle multi-location businesses?
The app uses location-locking to record the exact branch of a business and reduce confusion between different locations.
Can I track my progress on a long book or TV series?
You can update long-form content to Watching, Listening, or Reading to keep track of what you are currently enjoying.
Is there a cost to use The Lyst?
The app is designed to be free and supported by a non-intrusive advertising model. A subscription option around $2/month USD is planned for users who want fewer ads.
Why are Latin words used within the app?
We chose a few Latin words to be different and educational. Inveni means "I found it," Suasors means advisors, Advena means the visitor, and Consors means partner.
